Welcome to Earth. Where are you from?

Alright, here we go. The allure was to great to pass up - I had to check out the Swifties web site (thanks for the prompt, Rob). I got this from their front page:

"Though we come from different backgrounds and hold varying political opinions, we agree on one thing: John Kerry misrepresented his record and ours in Vietnam and therefore exhibits serious flaws in character and lacks the potential to lead."

Misrepresentation of ones military record does indeed exhibit a flaw in character. I will allow that. Good point, chalk one up for the swifters.

Claiming that misrepresenting ones military record is cause for lack of leadership? I place that in the same category as saying that if you lie about the size of the fish you caught, you are a bad father. It is absurd and makes no relative sense. I know a whole bunch of guys who would qualify as some of the finest damn leadership this world will ever know, and I don't think a single one of them has not embellished their tales of combat. (Yes, I realize their is a difference between embellishing your stories and lying...save your mass hate mail :))

Try again Swift Boat Veteran's - you have not convinced me yet.

Regarding the Swifties/Bush Cheney v. Kerry: I guess I figure "At least he was THERE" as opposed to at some kegger back home.
Then I ask myself: Am I better off now than 3 3/4 years ago? Financially? No, no tax cuts for me. And I tell my kids NO a lot. Am I safer? Mr. Cheney says it depends who I vote for. Are the people I love who are close to draftable age safer? Nope. Are the people I love in and out(vets) of the armed services being adequately provided for? You answer....
    Thanks B
